Call this Maduro Shit for what it is!

Maybe it is time to go a little deeper on this Venezuelan thing? What do you think? I had dinner with Maduro a few years back and ⏤how to put it nicely⏤ he isn’t exactly the most luminary of South American leaders. In fact he’s nearly as dumb as Milei. But that is neither here nor there!

We are dealing with a senile old man living in his own little palace in Mar-a-Lago who has decided ⏤not sure why but there is always money involved with Donaldiño⏤ that Maduro needs to go. Now in early 2026! So what’s the Trump regime’s plan?

Let’s go a little deeper than personalities here because a lot of not-so-smart people do end up running countries. Trump himself is proof of this. His speech about the Munroe Doctrines (plural) made it pretty clear he had never heard of James Munroe when he spoke in Mar-a-Lago the day after the US attacked Caracas. Let’s be honest it isn’t always the smartest turd that floats to the top. The dumber the voters, the worse the leaders. A country often tends to get the government it deserves.

So Maduro and his wife were just hanging’ there in Caracas Venezuela; a very pretty town, good weather, beautiful people, good food, and some really cold beer in small bottles. But I digress! Then some fat helicopters fly in to bomb their capital city and drag them off to New York via Guantanamo. I mean you have to ask why? No? I did say that this Maduro guy isn’t exactly a luminary; didn’t I?

What I’m trying to say here, pardon my obtuse manner, is that this is not about Maduro. Nor, I would hazard a guess, is it about Maduro’s wife. It’s not like Maduro went and invaded Florida or that his government has fentanyl factories or is selling Chinese fentanyl to Donald J. Trump Jr. No! Surprise surprise the “drug terrorism” ⏤something of a non-sequitor⏤ is a really dumb lie.

So Maduro is just hanging with his bestie's trying to make it through the next wave of US sanctions... Then boom! Why? Why do you think? What have Iraq, Iran, Libya and Venezuela in common? Oil? Well yes! Oh and there is an awful lot of gold in Venezuela too currently being mined by Russians! Somehow the Maduro couple found themselves sitting on top of Trump’s oil so they qualify for a free winter break in Cuba and a shopping trip to NYC. Welcome to orange-haired neocolonialism. Venezuela, as it turns out has the Orinoco basin, tar sands on steroids replete with a lot of heavy crude and the US has a lot of refineries sitting idle not turning that heavy crude into diesel like it used to. Maybe you have heard of Koch industries. They spend a lot of money on the republican party?

So I had dinner with Maduro. Was he a bad man? No I don’t think so, but who am I to judge? Maybe I missed something. Maybe he’s awful like Trump himself. Maybe he’s a great bridge player. It really doesn’t matter. I don’t vote in Venezuela but neither does Mr. Trump. Maduro was just somebody who was willing to take over after his boss ⏤a genius called Chávez⏤ died under suspicious circumstances. Maduro was like a deputy, an assistant, nobody special really. So now he’s on a boat with his wife to face Trumped up[sic.] charges on drug running. Venezuela does do some drug exporting, but mainly to Europe, not the US. Venezuela tends to export coke not fentanyl. Why the expensive trip to New York? Is this making any sense to you yet?

Might I suggest that what we are seeing here is a bit of amateur colonialism. Who does Donaldiño think he is? A man who surrounds himself with sycophants like Hegseth the former newspaperman with the tattoos and his Miami baby-faced Cuban partner Rubio? How do we convince these amateurs that it’s time to back off? “We” can’t! Only the US people can choose their own government and it might be nice if the governments they do choose stop choosing other people’s governments with their military and CIA ops. Stop with the warships, the drones and the helicopters and just stay home at base a little more. Maybe celebrate Christmas with your families? Maybe another long drawn out guerilla war of occupation might help convince the US that free oil is not worth the dollars they’re printing for it…

So you have this borderline senile old man with his money-laundering mates who suddenly decides it is America’s god-given right to steal oil from Venezuela. Worse still, Trump seems to think it is OK to leapfrog his own government ⏤bypassing Congress, which can declare war, not the president⏤ to start just a teeny-weeny invasion of Venezuela disguised as a policing operation for drugs. Drugs we are supposed to believe that are being delivered to Miami in speed boats (from Venezuela!) What has Venezuela really done to the US? Panama? Grenada?

Maybe (just maybe) it is time to call this for what it is? Not only is this neocolonialism. It’s worse. It is amateur neocolonialism and it just not kosher.
